S. Charleston couples says contractor didn't repair roof properly

CHARLESTON -- A South Charleston couple is suing Dynamic Construction for failing to repair the roof of their house and causing them additional damages.

On April 4, Frank Staats and Pam Staats suffered storm damage to the roof of their home and the defendant was contracted to repair the roof, according to a complaint filed Nov. 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The Staats claim the defendant negligently caused them to suffer additional damages to their home and property by failing to properly protect the home and properly from additional storm and water damage.

The defendant's failure to repair the home in a good and workmanlike manner was also negligence, according to the suit.

The Staats claim because of the defendant's actions, they have not had the full use and enjoyment of their home, their property has been damaged and their personal property has been damaged, destroyed or converted.

The defendant also failed to inventory, clean and/or repair and return the Staats' personal possessions, according to the suit.

The Staats are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are being represented by Marvin W. Masters and April D. Ferrebee.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
