Pa. woman names 63 defendants in asbestos case

CHARLESTON -- A Pittsburgh, Pa., woman is suing 63 companies she claims are responsible for her mother's lung cancer and death.

Kathleen A. Buchner was diagnosed with asbestosis and mesothelioma, from which she died, according to a complaint filed Dec. 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Mary Ann Fischer, Buchner's daughter, claims her mother was exposed to asbestos because of her father, who was employed at Sunoco Gas Station and as a carpenter in West Virginia and elsewhere.

Buchner and/or Buchner's father were exposed to asbestos and/or asbestos containing products at Buchner's father's job sites, according to the suit.

Fischer is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by David P. Chervenick, Bruce E. Mattock, Leif J. Ocheltree and Scott S. Segal.

The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.
