Cancer center sues former patient for nonpayment

HUNTINGTON – The Cancer Treatment Center of America at Southwestern Regional Medical Center is suing a former patient it claims failed to pay more than $160,000 for medical services.

The Cancer Treatment Center of America provided medical services to Carrie Cooper at various times throughout 2009 and 2010, according to a complaint filed Dec. 12 in Cabell Circuit Court.

The plaintiff claims despite repeated attempts at securing payment, Cooper has failed and refused to pay for the medical services, which total $161,691.40.

The money Cooper owes is entitled to the plaintiff in full, according to the suit.

The plaintiff is seeking judgment in the amount of $161,691.40 with post-judgment interest. It is being represented by Ryan S. Marsteller.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
