Cabell couple sues River Place for injuries

HUNTINGTON -- A Cabell County couple is suing River Place for injuries sustained on its premises.

Kelly Smith was employed by Jimmy Adams, D.O., which is located in a medical office in River Place, according to a complaint filed Dec. 16 in Cabell Circuit Court.

On Jan. 15, 2010, Smith was walking through a concrete area located behind the building and was proceeding to the trash bins when she slipped on an unknown substance that was hidden from view and constituted a hidden hazard, according to the suit.

Smith claims the concrete area where she was injured was a reasonable path of ingress and egress for pedestrian and/or employee traffic to the trash bins provided by the defendant.

The defendant's negligence caused Smith injuries and damages, according to the suit.

Smith and her husband, Rodney Smith, are seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. They are being represented by Jon D. Hoover.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
