CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing Walmart after she claims she was injured in one of its stores.
On Feb. 13, 2010, Michelle Workman was walking inside Walmart when she slipped on a liquid substance on the ground and was injured, according to a complaint filed Jan. 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Workman claims the defendant negligently allowed water or a similar wet substance to accumulate on the floor near the Customer Service desk.
While Workman was walking toward the Customer Service desk, she stepped into water or a similar wet substance in the floor, which caused her to fall to the floor, according to the suit.
Workman claims the defendant knew or should have known about the substance and negligently failed to clean it up.
The defendant caused Workman to sustain injuries to her back, incur expenses for medical treatment and caused her to suffer great pain in body and mind, according to the suit.
Workman is seeking compensatory damages with pre-judgment interest. She is being represented by Donald C. Wandling.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
