Woman sues BCJ Properties for injuries

CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing BCJ Properties LLC after she claims she was injured on its property.

On Feb. 5, 2010, Dora Holliday was on the defendant's property and was walking in a common area when she slipped and fell, according to a complaint filed Jan. 27 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Holliday claims the defendant negligently allowed the lighting equipment in the common area to fall into disrepair, which caused her to slip and fall.

The defendant knew or should have known that the lighting in the common area had fallen into disrepair, according to the suit.

Holliday claims as a result of the defendant's negligence, she sustained injuries and medical expenses.

The defendant's negligence also caused Holliday to suffer great pain of body and mine; loss of enjoyment of life; annoyance and inconvenience; and other impairments and disabilities, according to the suit.

Holliday is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being being represented by Trent A. Redman and Michael D. Payne.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
