CHARLESTON -- A Milton woman is suing L.C. Halstead Company along with two other companies she claims are responsible for her husband's injuries and death.
United Talent LLC and Frontier Communications of America Inc. were also named as defendants in the suit.
On Dec. 12, 2010, Cecil Ray Christian, who was an employee of United Talent, was working with other employees of United Talent and L.C. Halstead in installing a new utility pole at the intersection of MacCorkle Avenue and Faulkner Street in Jefferson for Frontier Communications, according to a complaint filed March 5 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Angie Christian claims while Cecil Christian was working on the installation, he was struck by a truck and sustained multiple blunt and crushing injuries, including multiple pelvic fractures.
On Dec. 19, 2010, Cecil Christian died as a result of the injuries he sustained on Dec. 12, 2010, according to the suit.
Angie Christian claims the defendants failed to provide a safe work place for her husband.
The defendants also created and had knowledge of the unsafe working conditions Cecil Christian was exposed to and failed to remedy the situation, according to the suit.
Angie Christian is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by W. Michael Moore, Tonya P. Shuler and Alicia A. Deligne.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
