CHARLESTON -- A Hurricane woman is suing Family Care Health Center for negligence during the birth of her child.
Dr. Devin Ciliberti and Kim Lopes were also named as defendants in the suit.
On Aug. 1, 2011, the defendants negligently cared for Shawnna Pauley and Riley Johnson, her unborn infant, during their labor and delivery, according to a complaint filed March 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Pauley claims the defendants' negligence caused trauma and permanent injury to Johnson.
The defendants' negligence caused Johnson to suffer severe permanent and irreversible neurological damage, according to the suit.
Pauley is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Dr. Richard D. Lindsay and Richard D. Lindsay.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
