HUNTINGTON -- A Cabell County woman is suing Midway Ford after she claims it failed to repair her truck and, instead, destroyed the engine.
On Aug. 2, 2010, Cindy L. Childers took her Ford 250 Pickup Truck to Midway Ford for repairs, according to a complaint filed March 14 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Childers claims the defendant did not repair her truck, but destroyed the engine instead, and she was forced to go to a third party for an engine replacement, which was estimated to cost $10,157.45.
Midway Ford's mechanics drove Childers' truck and destroyed the engine and during the test drive, the glow plugs and heating elements came apart, according to the suit.
Childers claims the broken parts were sucked in pieces over into other cylinders and both the front and rear cylinders were damaged by the mechanics.
The engine was then exposed to a coolant/water combination either from a cracked cylinder head or a cracked engine block, according to the suit.
Childers claims when the truck was towed to another repair facility, four glow plugs were found in a loose package in the truck and one was incomplete.
Childers is seeking judgment in the amount of $10,157.45 for the engine replacement; towing bills; $20,000 for loss of use of her truck in her farm business; and attorney fees in the amount of $15,000. She is being represented by James E. Spurlock.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
