CHARLESTON – On the heels of endorsements from the West Virginia State Chamber of Commerce and the West Virginia Business & Industry Council, Justice Robin Davis has earned three additional endorsements from prominent business groups in the state.
The West Virginia Hospital Political Action Committee (HOSPAC), the West Virginia Medical Political Action Committee (WESPAC) and the West Virginia Bankers Political Action Committee (Bank PAC) have voted to endorse the re-election of Justice Robin Davis.
"Supreme Court Justice Robin Davis has represented the interests of all West Virginians in a consistent and fair manner," said Joe Letnaunchyn, treasurer of HOSPAC. "Her thoughtful approach to rendering reasoned decisions demonstrates not only her respect for the judiciary but also for the people of this state."
"The West Virginia Bankers Political Action Committee is proud to endorse Justice Robin Davis in her bid to be re-elected to the Supreme Court," said Joe Ellison, chairman of WV BankPac and president and CEO of the West Virginia Bankers Association. "Justice Davis always tries to render decisions that are fair and impartial."
"I am so proud to accept these endorsements," Davis said, "but I am even more proud of what they represent: The recognition throughout the state that the decisions I make on the bench are fair according to the rule of law.
"I don't take this responsibility lightly, and I am grateful for the support of groups like the Bankers Association, the Hospital Association and the Medical Association."
The West Virginia Hospital Association is a non-profit statewide organization representing more than 60 hospitals and health systems across the continuum of care. The WVHA supports its members by providing leadership in healthcare advocacy, education, information and technical assistance.
WESPAC is a voluntary, bi-partisan, unincorporated organization composed of physicians, their spouses and others and is a separate segregated fund established by the West Virginia State Medical Association, which has more than 2,800 statewide members, including physicians, retired physicians, medical residents and students.
Established in 1891, the West Virginia Bankers Association is widely recognized as one of the state's leading trade associations and is the premier leadership organization and principal advocate for West Virginia banks.
Davis has served on the Supreme Court since she was first elected in 1996 and is seeking a second full term. She is currently the senior-most Justice on the Court.
Davis is one of six Democratic candidates. Joining her are circuit judges Jim Rowe and J.D. Beane, current Supreme Court law clerk Louis Palmer, Charleston attorney Tish Chafin and New Martinsville attorney H. John "Buck" Rogers.
Supreme Court law clerk Allen Loughry and Circuit Judge John Yoder are the Republicans running for two spots on the bench in this spring's primary.
The primary election is May 8, and the general election is Nov. 6.
