Leslie appointed to Putnam judge post

CHARLESTON -- Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has announced the appointment of Teays Valley lawyer J. Robert Leslie as Circuit Judge for the 29th Judicial Circuit serving Putnam County.

Leslie will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of The Honorable O.C. Spaulding.

"Judge Spaulding's contributions to our judiciary were sincerely appreciated and it was with a heavy heart that I accepted his resignation," Tomblin said. "I'm pleased Bob has accepted this opportunity to serve the people of Putnam County as Circuit Judge."

Leslie was born and raised in Ceredo, and he graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1984. He then received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marshall University in 1988 and graduated from law school at Ohio Northern University.

Leslie was a member of Moot Court and editor of the Ohio Northern Law Review. He was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award and a Merit Scholarship.

He has built a respected law practice and has given back to the community over the years by providing pro bono legal services. Leslie has over 18 years of experience in the courtroom and, for the past 11 years, has practiced with Tyree, Embree & Leslie. Over the course of his career, Leslie has tried numerous civil and criminal cases and has been active in community efforts.

Leslie is married to Amy (Hensley) Leslie, and they reside in Hurricane.
