Stephen Hash vs. Steven Cooper and Shannon Cooper

* On May 2, 2011, Hash was reading water meters within the course and scope of his employment with West Virginia American Water and was approaching the meter well at the property located next to the defendants' property when a dog appeared. Hash claims the dog was growling, baring teeth and continued to run toward him, so he swung his meter wand at the dog to defend himself and scare the dog away. In an attempt to protect himself, Hash stepped back, lost his balance and fell onto his knee. Hash claims the dog belonged to the defendants. Hash is seeking compensatory damages.

William and Geisha Miller vs. Michael Matt

* On April 23, 2010, the defendant entered into an oral contract with the Millers to repair the roof of the Miller residence. The defendant failed to repair the roof in a workmanlike manner. The Millers are seeking compensatory damages in the amount of $63,500.

Paula Bench and Marvin S. Bench vs. Michael R. Spindel, M.D., and St. Mary's Medical Center
PA- Susan J. Van Zant; J- F. Jane Hustead
* On Feb. 4, 2010, Spindel performed a breast augmentation surgery on Paula Bench. She claims almost immediately she felt that something was wrong and she returned to Spindel, so performed a corrective surgery on May 25, 2010 at no charge. The Benches claim Spindel failed to advise them that he had severed the chest wall muscle and Paula Bench's problems worsened. The Benches claim they consulted a board certified plastic surgeon in Charleston who diagnosed Paula Bench with symmastia, which can only be corrected by certain highly trained surgeons, none of which are in West Virginia. The Benches are seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest.
