Wayne Co. man says Mountaineer Gas driver caused accident

HUNTINGTON -- A Ceredo man is suing Mountaineer Gas Company and the driver of one of its vehicles who caused a car accident and injured him.

On March 9, 2011, William Pierce was operating a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup Truck in Wayne County when Danne Crum Jr., who was a Mountaineer employee, struck his vehicle, according to a complaint filed June 28 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Pierce claims Crum was driving a truck owned by Mountaineer when he failed to operate the vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner and collided with his vehicle.

As a result of the defendants' negligence, Pierce suffered significant bodily injuries; great physical, mental and emotional pain; medical and hospital expenses; loss of ability to enjoy life; and aggravation, annoyance and inconvenience, according to the suit.

Pierce is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by S. Douglas Adkins.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
