CHARLESTON -- In an ongoing effort to educate and protect the citizens of West Virginia, Attorney General Darrell McGraw will be hosting a tele-town hall meeting on state gun laws, hunting regulations and related issues.
The event, scheduled for Sept. 6, will be conducted over the telephone with a panel ready to answer questions in a town-hall format.
Participants will get the unique opportunity to engage in a live panel discussion addressing commonly-asked questions, and also to direct questions to the panelists. Knowledge of current regulation is imperative to being a safe, ethical and responsible gun owner and also helps assure the safety of law enforcement officers.
"Knowing state laws and regulations regarding firearms is beneficial to everyone and is a topic that needs to be discussed to ensure the safety of gun owners and West Virginia citizens," McGraw said. "Gun regulations change and it is our job to educate the people of our state in an effort to protect their rights."
In addition to McGraw, the panel will consist of representatives from the National Rifle Association, the West Virginia Sheriff's Association, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and staff from the Attorney General's Office. Registered participants will receive a call and have the option to stay on the line for the duration of the discussion.
McGraw will open the meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 6. Individuals on the panel will spend the meeting discussing state gun laws, reciprocity agreements, hunting regulations, and firearm safety issues.
