Thereafter, prior to the loan closing, Countrywide called the Pettys and falsely informed them their home had a value of $112,000, when in fact it was valued at $74,100. The Pettys claim the defendants participated in predatory lending practices and caused them to file for bankruptcy. The Pettys are seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
