CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County woman is suing Go-Mart, Inc. after she was injured on its premises.
On Jan. 28, Cindy Sheppard was at the Go-Mart in Dunbar when she slipped on oil and landed on her knee, according to a complaint filed Aug. 28 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Sheppard claims the defendant was responsible for properly maintaining the premises of the store, specifically the area that was oily and slick, which presented a falling hazard.
Go-Mart owned and controlled the store and was negligent and breached its duty of care and maintenance by allowing the premises to exist in a dangerous condition, according to the suit.
Sheppard claims as a result of the defendant's negligent conduct, she sustained serious injuries and incurred various damages, including medical bills; pain and suffering; and annoyance and inconvenience.
The defendant's negligence caused Sheppard to suffer injuries to her knee and to her ankle, according to the suit.
Sheppard is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Paul M. Stroebel.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
