PERSONNEL FILE: Potter joins Bailey & Wyant as Of Counsel

CHARLESTON -– The law firm of Bailey & Wyant welcomes Jay Potter as Of Counsel to their Charleston office.

A former U.S. Navy line officer, Potter has more than 20 years of experience defending environmental, product liability, commercial and medical negligence claims.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and a Masters of Business Administration from Bryant College. In 1978, he received his Juris Doctorate from the West Virginia University College of Law.

Potter was a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy. He served in Cruiser-Destroyer Force U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Amphibious Force U.S. Pacific Fleet and in U.S. Naval Forces Vietnam before beginning his career as an Attorney.

He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit.

As Of Counsel at Bailey & Wyant, Potter will be focusing his practice on environmental law, toxic tort, products liability and medical negligence matters.

Originally from Wheeling, Potter has a son Jeremy and daughter-in-law Po Chi. He currently lives in Charleston, West Virginia with his wife Zen.
