Loughry receives numerous endorsements

CHARLESTON -– West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals candidate Allen Loughry continues to pick up endorsements, receiving the support of 11 major groups and associations in the past few weeks.

Loughry has been endorsed by: West Virginia State Medical Association, West Virginia Manufacturing Association, West Virginia State Chamber, West Virginia Coal Association (West Virginians for Coal), West Virginia Hospital Association, West Virginia Trucking Association, West Virginia Family Foundation, West Virginians for Life, The Independent Insurance Agents of West Virginia, State Farm Political Action Committee and West Virginia Farm Bureau.

“I am pleased and honored to accept the endorsements of such a wide-range of groups and organizations,” Loughry said in a press release. “These endorsements reflect the courage of their members to seek positive change in our state and their confidence in my candidacy.”

“We believe you have a history of working hard to move West Virginia forward,” said Steve Roberts, president, West Virginia Chamber Political Action Committee. “The WV Chamber PAC is pleased to support your candidacy for Supreme Court.”

“This election is extremely important to the state’s coal industry,” said Chris Hamilton, Co-Chair of West Virginians for Coal. “We appreciate your work for the state’s energy and extractive programs and look forward to working with you on future energy and coal programs.”

Loughry has been a lawyer for the West Virginia Supreme Court for the past nine years. He has four law degrees from American University, University of London and Capital University. He also studied law at Oxford University. Prior to working at the Supreme Court, Loughry practiced law as a Senior Assistant Attorney General arguing cases at all levels of the state and federal system including arguing more than 20 cases before the state's high court.

Loughry is the author of "Don't Buy Another Vote, I Won't Pay for a Landslide," a book detailing political corruption in West Virginia. The book not only details how West Virginians have suffered from political corruption, but provides a 50-point plan to reform the state's political system.

During his career, Loughry has served as a Special Prosecuting Attorney, Assistant County Prosecutor, Direct Aide to Gov. Gaston Caperton, Senior Assistant Attorney General and Special Assistant to a Congressman. He also has worked with more than 20 Supreme Court justices at both the Ohio and West Virginia supreme courts.

Loughry is a lifelong West Virginia resident and native of Tucker County. He and his wife, Kelly, reside in Charleston with their son, Justus.
