Huntington woman sues the Car Shoppe for injuries

HUNTINGTON – A Huntington woman is suing Car Movers, Inc., after she claims one of its employees caused a vehicle accident.

Car Movers, Inc., is doing business as the Car Shoppe Pre Owned Autos & RVs.

The employee, Nicholas Turley, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

On Aug. 1, Jennifer Bailey was operating her 1995 Ford Ranger pick-up truck on Eighth Street in Huntington when Turley, who was operating a 2000 Ford Ranger pick-up truck owned by Car Movers, negligently failed to maintain control of the vehicle and caused the two vehicles to collide, according to a complaint filed Nov. 8 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Bailey claims Turley had a duty to operate the vehicle in a safe manner so as not to cause a collision or otherwise injure her and failed to do so.

Turley’s negligence caused Bailey to suffer serious injuries, aggravation, mental anguish, emotional distress, inconvenience and medical costs, according to the suit.

Bailey claims Car Movers is vicariously liable for Turley’s negligence because he was acting in the scope of its employment at the time of the collision.

The defendants’ actions caused Bailey to suffer medical expenses, disfigurement and loss of earning capacity, according to the suit.

Bailey is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by R. Matthew Vital.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
