CHARLESTON - Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC announced today that Christian M. Capece has joined its Charleston office as an associate.
Capece has more than 10 years experience defending clients in federal and military courts, including defense of white-collar offenses and war crimes. His practice areas include Insurance, Litigation, and Federal and Military Defense. Capece is admitted to practice in the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of Appeals for West Virginia.
Prior to joining Kay Casto & Chaney, Capece served as an assistant federal public defender for the Southern District of West Virginia and serves in the West Virginia Air National Guard. Capece served as a law clerk in the Eastern District of New York and as an associate at a Manhattan-based commercial law firm.
In 1999, he received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School where he served as executive notes and comments editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. In 1994, Capece received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and his master’s degree in education in 1995. Capece served on active duty as a Marine Corps officer and Judge Advocate from 2000 to 2004, completing tours in Okinawa, Japan and Quantico, Virginia.
Currently, Capece serves on the board of directors for the Charleston Montessori School and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Additionally, Capece is on the WV State Bar's Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 and served as a Team Leader for the NATO Rule of Law Field Support Mission in Mazar-e Sharif.
