PERSONNEL FILE: Spilman Thomas & Battle elects new members

Charleston — The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC has announced that it elected several new members, effective Jan. 1.

M. Mallory Mantiply, of Roanoke, Va., focuses on trials and litigation of all types. He has tried cases in state and federal courts, before juries, judges and arbitrators. Mantiply is a certified mediator and has served as a court-appointed mediator in federal and state courts. In more than 30 years of plaintiff and defense litigation, he has represented a variety of individuals and businesses. Mallory earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama and Florida.

Stephanie U. Roberts, of Winston-Salem, N.C., focuses on litigation with an emphasis on construction and products liability, including industrial accident and toxic tort litigation. She has extensive experience handling class actions, mass tort litigation, multi-district litigation, and complex, document-intensive matters. Roberts is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. She earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University and her law degree from the University of Florida. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

Bryan G. Scott, of Winston-Salem, N.C., provides front-end construction law and litigation services to commercial and residential contractors, owners and suppliers, as well as general business litigation representation for banking and business clients. He also devotes a portion of his practice to creditors’ rights litigation, insurance coverage and bad faith matters, and intellectual property litigation. Scott earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Appalachian State University and his law degree from Wake Forest University and is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Virginia.

Gerald M. Titus III, of Charleston, focuses on general civil litigation, trucking accidents, contract disputes, personal injury and products liability defense. He also works in Marcellus and Utica Shale law. Prior to joining Spilman in 2009, Titus worked as the Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia, affording him a unique knowledge of trial work. He is well-versed in defending a variety of clients in various aspects of the law in state and federal courts in West Virginia. Titus earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Washington and Lee University, and he is admitted to practice in West Virginia.
