PERSONNEL FILE: Steptoe & Johnson attorneys named to Institute for Energy Law advisory board

BRIDGEPORT – Andrew S. Graham, George A. Snell III and Philip D. Vasquez have been appointed to the advisory board of the Institute for Energy Law.

These Steptoe & Johnson attorneys join their peers -- Sharon O. Flanery, Kurt L. Krieger and Russell L. Schetroma -- as members of the board. The IEL is a leader in continuing education for professionals throughout the energy industry.

"It gives us a chance to team up with those on the forefront of the energy industry and to participate in educational programs and activities that will move the industry forward.”

Graham concentrates his practice in the areas of energy and mineral law, as well as real estate and commercial transactions. He joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2005 and assists clients with mineral title examinations, due diligence, buying and selling mineral assets and issues with surface use and compensation arising from oil and gas operations. Graham earned his B.S. from Shepherd College and his J.D. from West Virginia University.

Snell joined Steptoe & Johnson’s Houston office in January. He focuses his practice in energy law, with concentrations in oil and gas title opinions. For more than 30 years, he has prepared thousands of opinions for energy companies across the country. Snell is a nationally known author and public speaker, and has had many of his works published in leading legal and industry publications. Snell received his B.A. and J.D. from Baylor University.

Vasquez focuses his practice in all aspects of energy law and is leader of the firm’s International Oil and Gas practice. He was appointed by the President of the United States as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Natural Gas and Petroleum Technology, U.S. Department of Energy, overseeing all aspects of the U.S. oil and gas policy, technology, research and development. Vasquez earned his B.B.A from the University of Texas at Austin and his LL.M. and J.D. from the University of Houston. He joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2012.
