CHARLESTON – The West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is suing J.L. Arnold Engineers, Inc., for failing to pay money it allegedly owes.
Jeffrey L. Arnold was also named as a defendant in the suit.
The WVSBRPE filed a consent order seeking disciplinary action against the defendants in which the defendants signed and agreed to pay $1,500 by Nov. 14, according to a complaint filed Feb. 12 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
The WVSBRPE claims the defendants have failed to make payment pursuant to the contract.
As a state entity, the WVSBRPE is empowered to regulate the practice of professional engineering, according to the suit.
The WBSBRPE claims a part of its power is to ensure that people holding themselves out to be engineers in West Virginia have the proper credentials to do so, in order to protect the public interest.
The defendants are residents of Florida who do business in West Virginia without a valid West Virginia engineering license, according to the suit.
The WVSBRPE is seeking judgment in the amount of $1,500 with pre- and post-judgment interest. It is being represented by Deputy Attorney General Debra L. Hamilton.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
