Kanawha Valley Jewelry sued over fall on ice

CHARLESTON – A woman is suing Kanawha Valley Jewelry after she claims she was injured on its property.

Bonnie Scott claims she slipped on snow and ice on the defendant’s property and sustained injuries, according to a complaint filed Feb. 13 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Scott claims she was visiting Kanawha Valley Jewelry to purchase a heater and when she had done so, an employee agreed to carry it for her.

When Scott opened the door, she slipped on snow and ice that was in an area directly in front of the door, according to the suit.

Scott claims she went to the hospital and was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain, a left knee abrasion and a Trapezius strain.

The defendant failed to treat the area where Scott slipped for snow and ice, which caused her injuries, according to the suit.

Scott is seeking damages in the amount of $7,821. She is representing herself.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
