Woman says she was hit by a bus, sues

CHARLESTON – A Beckley woman is suing Abbott Bus Lines, Inc. after she claims she was injured when one of its motor coaches struck her.

Abbott Bus Lines, Inc. is doing business as Abbott Trailways.

On March 17, 2011, Abbott negligently operated its motor coach and struck Elizabeth Elaine Bailey, according to a complaint filed Feb. 28 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Bailey claims the defendant’s negligence caused her to be injured, resulting in medical treatment and missed employment.

The defendant’s actions caused Bailey to suffer medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, aggravation and annoyance and inconvenience, according to the suit.

Bailey is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by John H. Shumate Jr. of the John Shumate Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
