PERSONNEL FILE: Mushet joins Wheeling office of Burns White

PITTSBURGH — Burns White LLC is welcoming four associates to its Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Wheeling offices.

Pittsburgh

Litigator Laura E. Benson focuses in professional liability and commercial litigation, defending lawyers, accountants and medical professionals against liability claims and disputes. Prior to joining Burns White, Benson was employed as an associate at Weinheimer, Schadel & Haber, P.C., where she practiced professional malpractice defense and civil litigation.

Benson received a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.

Craig J. Emmert is part of the Energy Group at Burns White, handling oil and gas lease litigation, as well as title curative and certified title opinions. Experienced in many aspects of the industry, Emmert wrote certified title opinions for oil and gas exploration and production companies, and handled oil and gas lease disputes as an associate at Lawrence D. Brudy & Associates.

He also worked as a crew chief and landman at an oil and gas land services company. Emmert received a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College.

Philadelphia

Kevin J. Riefenstahl brings a wealth of multi-disciplinary experience to his Workers’ Compensation practice at Burns White, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation, Social Security disability and financial analysis. Prior to joining the firm, Riefenstahl worked in New Jersey and in Pennsylvania representing employers and self-insured employers as well as claimants before the Social Security Administration; analyzed matters to create legal strategies for claims, developed client tracking and reporting systems; and served in the United States Navy as a Data Processing Technician.

He received a J.D. from Widener University, an M.B.A from West Chester University and a B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University.

Wheeling

Health care litigator Darla A. Mushet rejoins Burns White from Casey & Chapman, PLLC. With an extensive background in the health care industry, Mushet focuses in medical malpractice defense and health care risk management. She was employed as a staff nurse with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the Wheeling Dialysis Center and the Wheeling Hospital and as a home dialysis coordinator at the Wheeling Dialysis Center.

Prior to obtaining a law degree, she practiced as a legal nurse consultant on medical malpractice matters. Mushet obtained a J.D. from West Virginia University and a B.S.N. from Wheeling Jesuit University.
