Woman sues Best Western for alleged bedbug infestation

HUNTINGTON - A woman is suing Best Western for injuries she allegedly sustained from a bedbug infestation in her hotel guest room.

Yvonne Viglianco had a reservation at Best Western in Barboursville for June 10, 2012, through June 15, 2012, according to a complaint filed June 17 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Viglianco claims her first room was unsatisfactory and was moved to a second room.

The second room had a malfunctioning refrigerator that made noise all night and the next day, Viglianco was moved to another room, according to the suit.

On June 14, 2012, Viglianco claims she woke up and found bedbugs throughout her bed and she suffered bites all over her body and her clothing was destroyed by the bedbugs.

Viglianco claims the defendant failed to provide a safe, proper and clean room for her upon her renting a room from the defendant.

Best Western was negligent in maintenance and cleanliness of its rooms, which caused Viglianco injuries, pain, suffering, annoyance and inconvenience, according to the suit.

Viglianco is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Thomas W. Kupec of Kupec & Associates PLLC.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
