CHARLESTON - A Charleston couple are suing Thomas Memorial Hospital Foundation Inc. for injuries sustained while on its property.

On June 8, 2011, Patricia Green was exiting a side entrance to the defendant's medical building and was proceeding onto the sidewalk when she tripped and fell, according to a complaint filed June 5 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Green claims the defendant failed to keep the sidewalk free from obstacles.

As a result of the defendant's negligence, Green sustained various injuries, including an anterior right shoulder dislocation, damage to her right shoulder labral and damage to her rotator cuff, according to the suit.

Green claims she suffered great pain of body; mental anguish and distress; and incurred expenses for medical bills, medication and travel expenses.

As a result of Green's injuries, her husband, William Green, has been deprived of the services of his wife and the comfort and happiness of his wife's society and companionship, according to the suit.

The Greens are seeking compensatory damages. They are being represented by Michael L. Glasser.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
