HUNTINGTON - A Huntington man is suing Combs Construction Company Inc. after he claims the stucco it installed on his residence was "unsightly."

Multicoat Products Inc. and Multicoat Corporation were also named as defendants in the suit.

Norman Ryder met with an employee of Multicoat regarding construction of the exterior of his residence and Multicoat recommended its "best installer," Combs, to install Hardiebacker cement board and stucco to the residence, according to a complaint filed June 21 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Ryder claims throughout the course of the work, it became apparent to him that the stucco did not look as promised and attempted to work with the defendants to make sure the stucco appeared as promised, but they were never able to do so.

Instead of appearing as a continuous surface, the seams and joints of the stucco were visible and unsightly, according to the suit.

Ryder claims the defendants did not install the stucco in a workmanlike manner and violated its implied duty of good faith to properly complete the stucco job.

The defendant promised Ryder that the stucco would be a continuous surface and that the joints and seams would not be visible, according to the suit, which was a breach of express warranty.

Ryder is seeking unspecified damages. He is being represented by Richard W. Weston and Connor Robertson of Weston Law Office.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
