Two sue Chapman Printing, Champion Industries over car accident

CHARLESTON - Two people are suing the Chapman Printing Company Inc. and Champion Industries Inc., alleging one of its employees caused a car accident.

Christopher Looney was also named as a defendant in the suit.

On June 29, 2011, Jimmie Hutchinson was carefully and lawfully operating his 2011 Toyota Camry on MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston, in which B.S. and C.S., the minor children of Lisa Elmore, were passengers, according to two complaints filed June 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The plaintiffs claim Hutchinson was lawfully stopped at a traffic light.

While at the traffic light, Looney, who was employed by Chapman and/or Champion struck Hutchinson's vehicle and caused him and C.S. and B.S.'s injuries, according to the suits.

The plaintiffs claim the vehicle Looney was operating was owned by Chapman and/or Champion and was operated in a negligent, careless and reckless manner.

As a direct and proximate result of the negligent and careless conduct of the defendants, Hutchinson, B.S. and C.S. suffered substantial damages, including permanent injuries; pain and suffering; mental anguish; and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by Brent K. Kesner of Kesner, Kesner & Bramble PLLC.

The cases have been assigned to Circuit Judges Louis H. Bloom and Paul Zakaib Jr.
