SOUTH CHARLESTON - Moore & Biser has announced the addition of a new attorney.

Marey Casey is an experienced litigator who has defended clients in a variety of cases, including mass tort, personal injury, deliberate intent, premises liability, and product liability. She has focused her past practice on insurance defense work, including bad faith and coverage litigation, as well as the direct representation of insureds.

During legislative sessions, Casey also works for the West Virginia Senate as counsel for the committees on Banking and Insurance and Transportation and Infrastructure. Her work at the Senate includes drafting legislation and presenting bills and resolutions to these Senate committees.

Casey was the Chairperson of the Insurance Law Committee of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia in 2009 and was recognized in the past as a West Virginia Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine. She is a member of the Judge John A. Field, Jr., American Inn of Court.

Casey has served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank E. Jolliffe and the Honorable James J. Rowe, both Judges for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of West Virginia, and the Honorable Carrie L. Webster, Judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit of West Virginia.

Her educational background includes receiving the Abitur Diploma in 1992 from the Leonardo-da-Vinci Gymnasium in Berlin, Germany, and graduating summa cum laude (4.00 GPA) from West Virginia State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1996. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Va., in 2000, and attended the Trial Advocacy Institute at the University of Virginia School of Law in 2007.

Casey has been a member of the West Virginia State Bar since 2000 and is admitted to practice law in all state courts in West Virginia and Kentucky. She is also admitted to practice law in several federal courts, including the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
