CHARLESTON - West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed Bowles Rice attorney Rob Alsop to the West Virginia University Board of Governors.
Alsop, who serves as Special Counsel in the Charleston office of Bowles Rice, was appointed Aug. 2 by Tomblin to serve a four-year term, effective immediately.
"I am honored that Governor Tomblin has chosen me to serve as a member of the Board of Governors for West Virginia University," Alsop said. "As a lifelong Mountaineer, I cannot wait to do my part to support our phenomenal leader, President James P. Clements, and his great team."
Among the duties of the 16-member Board of Governors are the control, supervision and management of the financial business and education policies and affairs of West Virginia University.
Alsop earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2002, where he was editor-in-chief of The West Virginia Law Review. He received his bachelor of arts degree, also summa cum laude, from West Virginia University in 1999.
He focuses his law practice in commercial and financial services, government relations and economic development.
Bowles Rice is a regional law firm with more than 135 attorneys and eight regional offices located in Charleston, Martinsburg, Morgantown, Moundsville and Parkersburg; Southpointe, Pa.; Lexington, Ky.; and Winchester, Va.
