CAMC terminated employment because of age, suit claims

CHARLESTON - A former employee is suing Charleston Area Medical Center for allegedly terminating her employment based on her age.

Linda Slack was employed by CAMC from Nov. 13, 1989, until Jan. 14, according to a complaint filed Aug. 5 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Slack claims her employment was terminated based on her age.

As a direct and proximate result of the defendant's discharge was a violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act, according to the suit.

Slack claims the defendant's actions caused her emotional distress, embarrassment and mental anguish.

The defendant's actions were willful and intentional, according to the suit.

Slack is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by J. Michael Ranson and Cynthia M. Ranson of Ranson Law Offices and G. Patrick Jacobs of Jacobs Law Offices.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
