General Motors sued by Logan couple over truck

Logan

LOGAN - A couple are suing over claims a vehicle they purchased had multiple defects.

Shaun and Jessica Varney filed a lawsuit on March 27 in the Circuit Court of Logan County against General Motors LLC, citing consumer protection violations.

The Varneys allege they purchased a 2011 GMC Sierra truck on Oct. 10, 2011, and the truck was manufactured and warranted by the defendant.

After the purchase, the Varney's experienced numerous and repeated problems with the vehicle, including sudden and unexpected loss of power, power steering and oil pressure, according to the complaint. The plaintiffs claim the defendant made multiple unsuccessful attempts to repair the vehicle.

The Varneys are seeking a replacement vehicle or return of purchase price plus damages for loss of use and legal costs.

They are being represented by Chapmanville attorney Mark Hobbs.
