Mt. Gay couple suing Logan Regional Medical Center

LOGAN - Logan General Hospital is being sued over claims that it failed to properly treat a patient.

Mt. Gay residents Donald and Violet Toler filed a lawsuit on June 10 in the Circuit Court of Logan County against Logan General Hospital LLC, doing business as Logan Regional Medical Center, citing negligence and loss of consortium.

The Tolers say from March 22 to April 9, 2012, Donald Toler was a patient under the care of Logan Regional Medical Center. They claim the hospital failed to recognize his risk for pressure ulcers and skin breakdown and failed to failed to provide infection prevention measures.

The hospital's negligence led to infections and subsequent hospital admissions, according to the complaint.

Donald and Violet Toler are seeking an undetermined amount in damages. They are being represented by Charleston attorney Andrew L. Paternostro.
