BECKLEY - A Raleigh County woman is suing after an allegedly poorly installed roof causes damage to her home.
Ellen H. Setliff filed a lawsuit Jan. 28 against Southeastern Roofing Co. in Pineville in Raleigh County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, in 1997 Setliff hired Southeastern Roofing to install a Duro-Last membrane roof on her home. In June 2011, Setliff hired a contractor to make repairs and renovations to parapet walls of her home, the suit says.
She alleges that during the repair work, it was discovered that the roof had been installed improperly because the material did not cover the entire parapet cap in numerous places and permitted water to penetrate in the gaps and destroying the parapet walls, roof sheeting and plywood decking.
Setliff is seeking damages in excess of $30,000, plus costs. She is being represented in the case by James R. Sheatsley of Gorman, Sheatsley & Company LC.
