Beckley Japanese restaurant sued over alleged fall

Raleighcourt

BECKLEY - A Raleigh County woman is suing over claims that she fell because of unsafe conditions in a Japanese restaurant.

Raleigh County resident Lucille Carpenter filed a lawsuit on Jan. 31 in the Circuit Court of Raleigh County against Kimono Japanese Seafood & Steak House of Beckley Inc., citing negligence.

Carpenter says she suffered injuries from a fall on Dec. 31, 2011, because the defendant's eating area had poor lighting and its tables and chairs were placed on an unmarked elevated surface, according to the brief.

Conley is seeking an undetermined amount of damages.

She is being represented by Charleston attorney Matthew A. Victor of Victor, Victor & Helgoe and Beckley attorney Christopher D. Lefler.
