FAYETTEVILLE - Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is being sued over claims that inadequate medical care contributed to a resident's death.

Alice Adkins, as Personal Representative of the Estate of Chandler J. Phillips, filed a lawsuit Sept. 13 in the Circuit Court of Fayette County, against Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC, doing business as Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and Wisteria LLC, citing statutory violations, negligence and wrongful death.

Adkins says Chandler Phillips was a resident of Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center from Sept. 14, 2011, until Jan. 13. The complaint alleges while Chandler Phillips was a resident, he fell, suffered skin breakdown, developed pneumonia and infections.

Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center failed to provide adequate medical care and monitoring to prevent these injuries which ultimately contributed to Chandler Phillips' death, according to the complaint.

The estate is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. It is being represented in the case by The Bell Law Firm PLLC of Charleston.

Fayette County Civil Action No. 13-C-232.
