Weirton cop sues bar over car accident

Bluesteel

NEW CUMBERLAND - A Weirton police officer claims a bar and grill in Hancock County is responsible for an alcohol-related accident that left him injured.

Michael Plaso filed a lawsuit Sept. 26 in the Circuit Court of Hancock County against Bugsy's Enterprises LLC, doing business as Blue Steel Grill and Cafes, citing negligence.

Plaso claims the defendant was negligent and allowed its employees to serve alcohol to Rhea Wagner to the point she was visibly intoxicated on Oct. 1, 2011, before she got into her vehicle and struck the plaintiff's police cruiser nearly head-on.

Plaso suffered injuries to his head, neck, shoulders, back and other parts of his body, according to the brief.

The plaintiff is suing for an undetermined amount of relief. Plaso is being represented by Wheeling attorney Chad C. Groome.

Circuit Court of Hancock County Case No: 13-C-159.
