Shady Spring Elementary student says she was pushed, broke arm

BECKLEY - A young girl is suing a teacher and school after she was allegedly pushed down by another student in the playground.

M.B., by her parent and next friend M.B., filed a lawsuit Sept. 30 in the Circuit Court of Raleigh County against the Raleigh County Board of Education and Bonnie Jean Alexander, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, M.B. is a student at Shady Spring Elementary School and on Oct. 5, 2011, was playing on the playground when she was pushed from behind by another student, L.L, causing her to fall and break her arm in two places.

The complaint states that at the time of the incident, she was under the care and supervision of her teacher, Bonnie Jean Alexander.

The complaint alleges the injury required surgery and months of physical therapy, and M.B. was informed by her doctors that she will have permanent damage and is no longer able to compete in gymnastics.

M.B. is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. She is being represented in the case by Roger A. Jarrell II.
