CHARLESTON — Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC (Spilman) announced that attorney Dale W. Steager served once again as editor for the 2014 edition of the Guidebook to West Virginia Taxes, published annually by the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Steager has served as editor of the publication since 2010 and is also author of this year’s severance tax and unclaimed property chapters.
Although it is not intended to take the place of a licensed attorney, the Guidebook is the most comprehensive reference publication available for West Virginia tax professionals, businesses and interested individuals. It is accessible only online in 12 downloadable PDF files.
With more than 42 years of experience working with the tax and revenue laws of West Virginia, Steager leads Spilman’s state and local tax practice. He has written or helped to amend many of the state’s current tax laws.
Prior to joining Spilman, Steager served as General Counsel to the West Virginia Department of Revenue and the West Virginia State Tax Department. He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from West Virginia University.
