WILLIAMSON – State Farm agreed to pay $25,000 to settle the injury claim of a minor who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike.
On Oct. 16, a final order was entered in Mingo County Circuit Court Judge approving the petition for a settlement of claims made by Acie Copley, the parent of Isaac.
According to the petition, filed in April, Isaac Copley was struck by a vehicle driven by Benny J. White on Oct. 3, 2012, near Delbarton. At the time, Copley was 11 years old.
Copley has incurred more than $62,000 in medical bills as a result of his injuries.
Those injuries include a femoral fracture, mandible fracture, pubic fracture, malar/maxillary fracture and clavicle fracture.
The accident occurred when he was riding his bicycle down a driveway and entered Route 65. White was driving his Toyota Tacoma and did not see Copley until it was too late.
White tried to swerve to the left but was unable to avoid hitting Copley, the petition says.
Copley was represented by the law firm Shaffer & Shaffer.
