Woman sues Raleigh Co. Board of Education, alleges injuries on school bus

New

BECKLEY - D.L., a minor, by and through his parents and next friend Michele Leasure, filed suit on Oct. 22 in Raleigh County Circuit Court, naming Raleigh County Board of Education as the defendant.

Leasure is suing on behalf of her child who was allegedly harmed while riding on a school bus.

According to Leasure, her child was assigned to ride on a school bus operated by "Ms. Karen." In her complaint, Leasure accuses the Raleigh County Board of failing to provide "Ms. Karen" with proper training in operation of the bus and conducting fire drills.

Leasure's complaint does not mention the specific way her child was allegedly injured. However, Leasure is accusing the Raleigh County Board of intentional or negligent spoliation of evidence which may have showed the alleged injury.

Leasure is seeking an undisclosed amount in compensatory damages for her child's injuries as well as punitive damages for the spoliation of evidence. She is being represented by attorney Stephen P. New.
