Man says company didn't properly install security system

Securitysystem

WINFIELD – A Charleston man is suing Eloop Security LLC after he claims it was negligent in installing and maintaining a security system.

George Shawkey owns real property in Putnam County in which he operates a video lottery operation, according to a complaint filed in Putnam Circuit Court.

Shawkey claims he entered into a contract with Eloop to provide security for the premises and on Nov. 9, the security system installed by the defendant failed to alert authorities to a breaking and entering at the premises.

As a result of the failure of the security system installed by the defendant to function in its proper manner, the defendant sustained economic loss in excess of $75,000, according to the suit.

Shawkey claims the loss he sustained was a direct and proximate result of the defendant's negligence, installation and maintenance of the security system.

Shawkey is seeking compensatory damages in the amount of $75,000. He is being represented by Jeremiah F. McCormick of McCormick Law Office.
