Nicholas Co. woman sues CAMC for wrongful termination

Camc

CHARLESTON – A Nicholas County woman is suing Charleston Area Medical Center after she claims her employment was wrongfully terminated.

Heather Glasko-Tully was a nurse at CAMC for approximately 13 years and during her employment, she consistently performed her duties in a satisfactory manner and met the reasonable expectations of the defendant, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Glasko-Tully claims during her employment, she made good faith reports of instances of wrongdoing, including a chronic problem of understaffing nurses.

CAMC terminated Glasko-Tully's employment in whole or in part for making good faith reports of instances of wrongdoing, according to the suit.

Glasko-Tully claims her employment was terminated for advocating on behalf of a patient or patients with respect to care, services or conditions provided by the defendant.

The defendant's actions violated the Patient Safety Act and also violated public policy, according to the suit.

Glasko-Tully is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre-judgment interest. She is being represented by Mark A. Atkinson of Atkinson & Polak PLLC; and Robert V. Berthold Jr. and Matthew C. Berthold of Berthold Law Firm PLLC.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit.
