Couple blames KRT, bus driver for wreck injuries

CHARLESTON – A couple is suing Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority after they claim injuries were sustained due to negligence.

Rebecca Lea Robinson, a bus driver, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

On June 12, 2013, Paul David Hodge Jr. was a Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff and was operatin a police cruiser owned by the Kanawha County Commission, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Hodge claims he was traveling through a green light at the intersection of California Avenue in Charleston when Robinson, who was operating a KRT bus, turned left onto California Avenue and collided with Hodge's police cruiser.

As a result of the collision, Hodge incurred severe and permanent physical and mental injuries, according to the suit.

Hodge claims Robinson had a duty to operate the KRT bus in a reasonably prudent manner and failed to do so.

KRT was negligent and caused Hodge to endure physical and emotional pain and suffering; annoyance and inconvenience; and loss of his capacity to enjoy life, according to the suit.

Hodge's wife, Tara Hodge, incurred a loss of consortium, according to the suit.

The Hodges are seeking compensatory damages. They are being represented by Michael J. Del Giudice of Ciccarello, Del Giudice & LaFon.
