Woman sues ProHandyman Services for damages

Contractor

HUNTINGTON – A Huntington woman is suing ProHandyman Services LLC after she claims the company damaged her home.

Connie Overstreet's home was damaged by a fire in June 2014 and she contracted with ProHandyman in January to repair the damages to her home, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Overstreet claims the contract between her and ProHandyman specified the work to be performed was for an estimated $68,964 and the defendant's work was to be performed in seven stages.

The contract required Overstreet to make a progress payment after the completion of each stage of work before the defendant would continue to work on the next stage of the house.

Overstreet claims she made payments to the defendant totaling $34,900 and learned work paid for and contracted for had not actually been performed or had not been performed in a workmanlike manner.

ProHandyman would not correct the problems with the work performed and stopped working on Overstreet's home in February without completing the work contracted for, according to the suit.

Overstreet claims the estimated cost of repairing the work performed by the defendant is $39,450.

Overstreet is seeking judgment in the amount of $34,900 for payments made to the defendant; $39,450 to repair work performed by the defendant; and compensatory damages. She is being represented by Bert Ketchum of Greene, Ketchum, Farrell, Bailey & Tweel.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
