WINFIELD – Two Putnam County men are suing another man they claim failed to repay money they loaned to him.
Between July 12, 2014, and Sept. 14, Charles M. Koenig came to Bruce D. Campbell and represented to him that he wanted to borrow several various sums of money and that he would promptly repay the loans, to which Campbell agreed and delivered checks and cash to Koenig, according to a complaint filed in Putnam Circuit Court.
Bruce Campbell and Patrick G. Campbell claim the money was being drawn on their joint checking account and Koenig gave several different stories of how he intended to repay the loans, none of which have ever been repaid.
The defendant breached his agreement to repay the loans in the total amount of $16,000, according to the suit.
The plaintiffs claim Koenig openly and notoriously committed a fraudulent scheme against them in which he asked for loans with no intention of repaying.
The plaintiffs are seeking punitive damages against Koenig. They are being represented by David L. Hill.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Joseph Reeder.
