NEW CUMBERLAND – A Steubenville, Ohio woman is suing an Ohio rental company doing business in West Virginia along with an individual employee, alleging the company’s driver was negligent in in causing her lasting damages.
Hazel Simon filed a lawsuit July 27 in Hancock Circuit Court against Alicia Pipes of Chester, and Rent-A-Center of Steubenville, alleging vehicular negligence in 2013.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 6, 2013, Simon was a passenger in a Ford F150 pickup truck driven by her son-in-law. The suit says Pipes, operating a delivery truck owned by Rent-A-Center, struck the left side of Simon’s vehicle as she and the family member waited in their parked vehicle for her grandchild to exit a school building on North Fourth Street in Steubenville.
The plaintiff alleges she sustained bodily injuries, pain and suffering, distress, anxiety and medical expenses.
Simon seeks compensatory and punitive damages jointly and severally from the defendants along with pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, and court costs.
She is represented by attorney Sharon Bogarad of the Law Offices of Sharon Bogarad in Weirton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David J. Sims.
