LOGAN—A Logan County couple is suing three medical professionals, alleging medical malpractice in the treatment of the wife for a serious infection.

Linda Gaidurgis and Larry Gaidurgis filed a lawsuit July 21 in Logan Circuit Court against Dr. Karunasree Kanuri, Aimee Colegrove and Dr. Safique Ahmed, alleging medical negligence and breach of contract in 2013.

The suit states when laboratory results for Linda Gaidurgis indicated the presence of the bacteria that causes methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) following a biopsy, the defendants failed to treat her infection in November 2013. According to the complaint, the two physicians (Kanuri and Ahmed) and the nurse practitioner (Colegrove) failed to notify the patient of her status and take appropriate steps to treat the infection.

Linda Gaidurgis alleges she sustained temporary and permanent injuries including pain, anguish, embarrassment and disfigurement. Additionally, the couple alleges loss of consortium and medical expenses.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages for economic and non-economic losses pursuant to the Medical Professional Liability Act, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and costs. They are represented by attorneys William Druckman and Madonna Estep of the Law Offices of Druckman & Estep in Charleston.

Logan Circuit Court case number 15-C-206.
